Installation of IAQ Sensors at the MENT Sports Hall

On May 23rd, our INBLANC experts at the Municipality of Thessaloniki completed installation of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) sensors at the MENT Sports Hall in Thessaloniki, Greece. The sports hall is one of the four buildings selected for the city's pilot programme in the framework of our research project.

The new IAQ sensors are part of a broader IoT network to help collect critical data. These are smart meters and indoor air quality sensors through which various indicators are recorded, including indoor temperature, indoor relative humidity, carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration, breathable volatile organic compounds (bVOCeq) and particulate matter (PM0.5 to PM10.0). The last one is a major IAQ concern due to its ability to penetrate deep into the lungs.

This overall data is crucial to helping us understand the ways such conditions directly affect levels of comfort and air quality indoors and the quality of the physical activity.

Following the successful launch at the MENT Sports Hall, the process will continue. The corresponding installation of IAQ sensors is pending in the remaining three selected buildings of the programme: the City Hall, the Music Centre and the 67th Primary School.
