Welcome to INBLANC – A New Chapter in Building Lifecycle Innovation
Author: Andre van Delft, DEMO Consultants
On behalf of the entire coordination team, I am proud to introduce the INBLANC project. In today’s world, shaped by social, economic, geopolitical, and environmental challenges, the demand for sustainable, safe, high-performing buildings and infrastructure has never been greater. We can no longer afford to rely solely on traditional methods; new technologies and methodologies must be embraced. Fortunately, we are equally in an era of opportunity, where advances in AI and other technologies empower us to meet these growing needs. Yet, the building and construction value chain still faces major barriers, particularly fragmentation and siloed data. That’s where INBLANC comes in!
What is INBLANC?
INBLANC aims to build an open ecosystem focused on the capitalisation of building lifecycle data, transforming how we collect, process, and use data throughout a building's lifecycle.
This data is structured into a Digital Building Logbook, where it serves as the foundation for five key performance indicators:
Energy
Human
Environment
Economy
Resilience
Together, these indicators describe the past and present of a building and help to predict its future.
The project’s name (INBLANC) stands for the INdustrialisation of Building Lifecycle data Accumulation, Numeracy and Capitalisation, capturing the core of our mission.
Project Design & Demonstration
INBLANC is built around creating efficient, effective, and user-friendly tools for building data management. These tools will be tested and validated across six demonstration sites throughout Europe.
Launched on 1 January 2025, INBLANC brings together a strong consortium of 22 partners from 10 countries, each recognised as leaders in their respective fields. Together, we share a common goal: to drive innovation in the built environment with pride, collaboration, and ambition.
Where we are now
We’ve now reached month 6 of our 42-month journey. Over the coming years, we will continue to research, develop, implement, test and disseminate our work across Europe.
If this has caught your interest, we kindly invite you to follow our progress, engage with us, and collaborate, whether you have ideas to share, questions to ask, or simply want to stay informed about our results.
